Black Women in Educational Leadership (Anthology) - Chapter: Grace in the Mirror
This anthology centers the lived experiences and leadership trajectories of Black women shaping schools, districts, and educational organizations nationwide. My contribution reflects on identity, resilience, and redefining leadership success.
In this chapter, I interrogate the intersection of leadership, motherhood, and institutional accountability. I challenge conventional measures of success and offer a recalibrated framework for leading with structural awareness and personal conviction.
I AM HER (Anthology) - Chapter: Seated Without Permission
This anthology highlights the voices and leadership journeys of women navigating identity, authority, and professional advancement.
This chapter examines the realities of navigating institutional leadership as a Black woman in systems where authority is often contested. I explore the discipline of self-definition, the politics of visibility, and the strategic clarity required to lead without waiting for affirmation.

Becoming While Leading — Women in Leadership: 3-Part Webinar Series (Ongoing) Co-facilitated with Dr. Nicole E. Sesay | April 2026
Many women in leadership spend years developing others before pausing to ask a harder question: Who am I becoming through this work? This 3-part series creates space for that inquiry — examining what it means to lead with intention, discover purpose in the midst of institutional demands, and navigate the intersecting challenges and milestones that define a leadership career.
Co-facilitated with Dr. Nicole E. Sesay — advocate, author, educator, and entrepreneur — each session moves between candid reflection and actionable strategy for women building and sustaining leadership at every level.
Research & Scholarship
Persistent STEM teacher shortages in rural Alabama, predominantly African American communities are not simply a supply problem. They are the result of compounding decision-making patterns at the district level — in how resources are allocated, partnerships are structured, and staffing is prioritized. This research examines where those patterns break down and what realignment requires.
This inquiry focuses on four dimensions: staffing decisions under resource constraints; district-university partnership structures in rural contexts; misaligned readiness expectations across institutions; and induction systems that shape early-career STEM teacher retention.
Findings are designed to inform district leaders, preparation programs, and partners investing in pipeline sustainability in high-need settings.

Promoted to Chief Kid Officer (CKO): The Parental Leadership Guide to Executive Management for Life, Chaos, and Success (Scheduled release: Mid-2027)
I wrote this book for anyone who has stood in the middle of what was supposed to be a family moment and realized it felt exactly like a crisis management briefing. It leans into those moments — finding the leadership lessons hiding inside the chaos, the negotiations, the unexpected pivots, and the small wins that keep you going. If you have ever managed a household and wondered why the boardroom felt familiar, this book is for you.

Co-authored article (in development) with Dr. Tosha Cantrell-Bruce at Northeastern University's College of Professional Studies.
This forthcoming article examines the role of alumni as mentors and collaborators in the graduate capstone experience. The piece explores the capstone from the perspective of alumni who returned to the professional classroom — contributing practitioner insight to a student body composed primarily of working professionals. Submitted for peer review upon completion.
